Asian Style Spare Ribs

The ribs are marinated with Asian flavors, so they come out tender and juicy with every bite. Serve them over rice or noodles for a truly memorable meal!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 rack of baby back ribs
  • Polynesian sauce binder
  • Teriyaki sake rub
  • Apple wood for smoking
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • Toasted sesame seeds and green onions for garnish
  • For Sauce
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup liquid aminos
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 cloves finely minced garlic

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat smoker to 225ºF.

  2. Rub Polynesian sauce binder on both sides of the rack of ribs.

  3. Season both sides of the ribs with teriyaki sake rub.

  4. Place the ribs in the smoker and smoke indirectly for 3 hours with apple wood.

  5. Spritz the ribs with water every hour to keep them moist.

  6. At the 3-hour mark, remove the ribs from the smoker and wrap them in foil with 3 tbsp of butter.

  7. Return the ribs to the smoker and continue smoking for another hour.

  8. After 1 hour, remove the ribs from the foil and baste them with the sauce every 10 minutes for the next 30-40 minutes.

  9. Place the ribs over direct coals for the last 5 minutes to char them up.

  10. Remove the ribs from the smoker and let them rest for 10 minutes.

  11. Slice the ribs and top them with the leftover sauce, toasted sesame seeds, and green onions.
